ADMISSION OF MEMBERS FELLOWSHIP NOT FAVOURED The suggestion that successful candidates in the examination of the Beal Estate Institute dr' New Zealand should be granted fellowships. m order to allow other applicants for associate membership to be admitted on the payment of 10s 6d per annum, did not find favour with the conference of the Institute which continued its sitting yesterday. It was considered that this would be a breacn of the understanding under which land agents were to be admitted. as associate members by examination.

The matter arose out of an Auckland remit, which was held over from the previous day for further discussion. The remit was that, with a view to increasing the number of associate members, the rule governing admission be reconsidered. Mr Deans-Ritchie said that he could not agree to the suggestion that associate members be admitted on payment of 10s 6d and that a fellowship be conferred on those who passed the Institute’s exam.nation, as this would be a breach of faith. Mr P. B. Foote was also of this opinion. The president, in expressing his opposition to the remit, said that there were other considerations than monetary. If the Institute was in need of financial assistance there were members in it who would contribute to its support. An amendment that the matter be left over for twelve months and a report be brought down was lost. The motion, on being put to the meeting, was lost. It was decided to hold next year’s conference at Wellington, A vote of thanks to the retiring president (Mr H. J. Duigan) for his untiring efforts during the past year was carried by acclamation. Election of Officers The election, of officers for the ensuing year was as follows: President Air C. J. S. Harcourt; vice-presidents, Alessrs W. J, Potter and T. H. Gill; executive delegates, Alessrs P. J. Crump (Auckland). F. C. Wilkinson (Hawke’s Bay), C. E. Jones (Canterbury), L. Deans-Ritchie (Otago), P. B. Foote (South Canterbury), Mr D. Al. Scandrett (Southland), Mr E. Jackson (Taranaki), A. Sarby (Waikato), H J. Duigan (Wanganui), A. E. Carver (Wellington), G. Crawshaw (Poverty Bay), A. Gould (Nelson).
