WANGANUI ASSOCIATION ANNUAL MEETING AND ELECTION OF OFFICERS A fully representative attendance of delegates to the Wanganui Lawn I Tennis Association on Thursday night at the Wanganui Education Board’s offices was presided over by Mr W. H. Swanger. The annual report, already published and the balance sheet were submitted to members and after some (discussion were adopted. Election of Officers The election of officers resulted as follows: Patron, Mr Gifford Marshall; president, Mr W. H. Swanger; vicepresidents, Messrs AL L. Lampe, G. ±l. Pownail and Dr. H. Christie; secretary Mr A t W. J. Peacock; treasurer, Air D. G. O’Toole; delegates to New Zealand Association, Messrs W. J. Alelady and W. Irons; auditors. Alessrs C, Beattie and C. 8. Swan; honorary solicitor, Mr N. R. Bain; general committee, Alessrs N. B. Barkman, K. H. Hounsell, W, Le Brun, G. Orr and R. R. T. Perkins; selection committee, Alessrs N. B. Barkman, Af. L. Lampe and W. H. Swanger. At a subsequent meeting of the general committee preliminary arrangements were madje in connection with, the charapionsinp tournament to be held in Wanganui during the New Year holidays It was decided to adopt Davis balls for the tourney and the venue will be the Wanganui Club’s courts. The annual schools tournament will be held on Saturday, November .17. and application has been made for the use of the Wanganui East courts. Cochct and Doeg beat Laird and AfacArthur (Los Angeles) 6-0, 6-3. Tisdall and Ribins (Los Angeles) beat Landry and Boussus 7-9, 7-5, 6-3.
AUSTRALIAN PLAYERS MATCH AT HONOLULU HOPMAN AND CRAWFORD WIN [ Australian Press Assn. ] HONOLULU, Oct. 3. The Australian tennis players participated in matches here. Hopman defeated Liet Dole 6-3, 6-3. Crawford defeated Walter Eklund (exchampion) 9-7, 8-6. Hopman and Crawford played Nakano and Tsuchiyama (the Hawaiian doubles cha .pions) till dark, when the scores were six all.
