SUCCESSFUL ENTERTAINMENT [ Special “Chronicle” Service ] Owing to the inclement weather there was not a large attendance at the Frivolities entertainment given on Friday evening in the Patriotic Hall in aid of the Waimarino branch of the Plunket Society. The programme presented was novel and entertaining and was thoroughly enjoyed by those present. The Frivolities are a combination of young ladies (instrumentalists, dancers and vocalists) of the district, who have earned a high reputation for the pleasing, effective and clever manner in which they present novel and up-to-date items. j On Friday evening the Frivolities secured another signal success, the dresses, stage appointments and ighting effects being very favourably commented upon. “MISS WAIMARINO” In support of the Rangataua candidate in the “Afiss Waimarino J ’ competition a successful hard-up dance was held in the Town Hall, Rangataua last week. The music rendered by the Waimarino Silver Band was greatly appreciated. Extras were played by Mrs Leckic, Air C. Plank, Airs Carson and Airs Shroddcr. Air C. Fenton ably fulfilled his duties as AI.C. There was a large attendance and a most enjoyable time was spent. The best hard-up couple were Airs Taylor and Air L. Gordon, and the hard-up drosses worn by many present were highly commented upon. PERSONAL AND GENERAL Airs Fcrgusson left town on Friday to spend a few days nt Alarton and Wanganui. Airs Fulton has returned home after a month’s holiday spent in Wellington. Nurse Rutherford. of Wanganui, who has been indisposed, is spending a holiday in Ohakune. Airs 6. E. List, who underwent a serious operation in Wanganui, is progressing favourably.
