NEW SPECIES FOUND IN NEW GUINEA | Australian Press Assn. ] Received Sept. 18. 8 p.m. WASHINGTON. Sept. IS. The Department of Agriculture has announced that the New Guinea ex pedition departed from Tort Moresby on September 10, having collected 167 varieties of sugar cane, including one that proves to be a new species. It is a hard straight cane, growing to a height of 33 feet. Cuttings are being shippal to Washington un/ler refrigeration for growth under observation and duplicate cuttings are being planted in Sydney as a precaution against loss i-uring shipment.
