Although the waterside workers’ conference at Melbourne on Saturday decided that the men should return to work, to-day, the men at Newcastle. Brisbane and Port Kembia refused to resume, stating they would not recognise the Beeby award. The wharf labourers at Fremantle also repudiated the Booby awani, ignoring the instructions from the Federation to resume work. The shipowners met to-day to discuss the position and decided work must be resumed at all ports before the conference which the men asked for wi 1 be granted. As a result of the dislocation of oversea transport facilities, the wool sales, which should have commenced to-dav. have been postponed indefinitely.’ BACK TO WORK TERMS OF NEW AWARD.
