BOXING
CASEY AND PURDY PALMERSTON NORTH BOUT TOM. HEENEY ALSO TO BE PRESENT Boxing fans will crowd the Opera House, Palmerston North, to morrow evening, when in addition to such a fast and stirring battle as the Casey Purdy clash will be, Tom Heeney will appear in the hall and together with his charming wife, will be welcomed by all fight fans of the Manawatu. ‘‘Our 'loin” is to be asked to present the prizes to the successful amateurs. Standing room only will be the rule, and already the booking is heavy. Casey will enter the ring with but one thought in view— to pile an inert Purdy on the press table or on the heads of the orchestra. He knows that his one chance is to put the elusive Purdy to sleep and he will try all the way to administer a “sleeping draught. ” Purdy on the other band will be the thoroughly fit boxer-fighter that had such a good record !n Australia. He has the best of reasons for wishing to be wide awake, and his clever work will be a revelation of the art of self defence. Many Wanganui boxing enthusiasts intend making the trip.
