AEROPLANE LOST [ Australian Press Assn.—United Service. ] Received Sept. 16, 5.5 p.m. LONDON, August 15. The airman de Alougcot, who was reported mis:’ng yesterday, was picked up 28 miles south-west of the Scilly Isles by a British trawler, which landed the aviators and mails at Ncwlyn, Cornwall. The aeroplane was lost. De Mougcot states he was compelled to descend. The sea : not rough enough to trouble the liner from which he was taking the mails, but was very bad for the aeroplane, which rolled like a barrel. It was impossible to use the wireless when the machine vas floating on the surface, as the apparatus had only thq smallest range, but all the time the -viators were able to receive signals from the liner Ho de France and other wireless stations.
Two steamers were sighted, but owing to the haze failed to see the hydroplane. De Mougcot started the engine and tried to reach them, but failed. Then the trawler : ‘rived and the aviators and mails were taken aboard.
