TILDEN’S APPLICATION FOR REINSTATEMENT ACTION NOT LIKELY. j r Australian Press Assn. ] Received Sept. 16, 5.5 p.m. NEW YORK, Sept. 15. News from Forest Hills states that it is learned that Tilden has applied for reinstatement as an amateur. The opinion is expressed that favourable action is unlikely by the United States Lawn Tennis Association, which tonight decided to table the application until the next meeting. At Forest Hills Cochet defeated Frank Shields (New York), 6 —4, B—6,8 —6, 6 —4, and Hunter defeated Lott, 6 —B, 6—4, 6—3, 6—4, in the semi-finals today.
