GENERAL NEWS “The Red and Black Dandies,” of Mangaweka (Messrs Waymouth, Kirkby, btewart, Barre'l, Trewby, and Mesdames Kirkby, Waymouth, Dalrymple, Pairman, Thompson, with Mrs Stew rt at t! o piano), gave a very good nigger minstrel show on Wednesday evening, and were well received by a large audience. A dance followel with ? • Potaka at the piano. This was also a great success, and dancing continued until the early hours. The results of the effort was about £l5 profit, which goes to help the school piano fund and the tennis club. PERSONAL Mr H. Way mouth is spending a few days in Feilding. Mr W. H. McLean, Taihape, was on a business trip here yesterday. Mrs H. Loye and Miss Dickson are spending a few weeks in Auckland. Mr K. Fraser, Kawhatau, is spending a few days in Wanganui. Messrs D. Ramsay, Sullivan, and W. Wright, motored through to Wanganui on Friday. A social gathering was given on Friday night by the members of the 1.0.0.F.M.U. Lodge to their friends, and an invitation was extended tothe Taihape members, who were there in large numbers. A very pleasant evening was spent in songs and dancing. Music was supplied by Messrs T. Dennis and P. Dauliney, and supper was left in the hand; of a capable ladies ’ committee. TOWN BOARD The engineer reported as follows at Tuesday’s meeting of the Town Board: “The plant at the power station continues to run satisfactorily, but on inspecting the fluming I notice it requires attention ’ several places, which will be put in order as soon as possible; the number of units generated totalled 2152. The pumping plant is in good repair, having pumped 220,000 gallons, of which the reservoir is holding 50,000. Six lamps have been fitted to the street lamps at the cost of 15s. The wiring department has been kept busy on general repair work and extensions; there still remains a fair amount of work on hand for the coming month. A motor car strue one of the poles on the Station Road. This was brokne through and the wires on adjacent poles were in many cases broken. Extra help was necessary to have the wires put in order. The revenue for the month is as follows: Electrical current sold, £67 17s 11; meter rent, £2 Ils; wiring supplies £l4 16s 7d; water, £6.”
