The Inroads of Women
Women have invaded the last stronghold of the misogynist male, the London club. The stubbornest diehards of several famous London clubs have at last reconciled themselves to the presence of women secretaries in the heart of their antifeminine fortresses. One of the pioneers in the latest feminine offensive was Miss Venard, who has been secretary of the Army and Navy Club for one vear.
The Devonshire Club and the Author’s Club are other famous clubs which now have W’omen secretaries. The secretary of the Devonshire, Airs Perry, mingled romance with business and became the wife of a member of the club committee. Coincident with this development comes the announcement that women have made so great successes as real estate agents that the cities and towns of England are employing thejn as municipal estate agents.
