MEMORIALS TO THE WAKEFIELDS [ Per Preeh Association ] WELLINGTON, July 26. In tho Legislative Council the Hon. Sir John Sinclair moved that in tho opinion of this Council tho question of the erection of a suitable memorial to the memory of Edward Gibbon Wakefield and William Hayward Wakefield should be taken into consideration by tho Government.” This was seconded by the Hon. W. H. Triggs and supported by tho Hon. H. L. Michel, Sir Robert Stout and Sir Francis 8011. Speaking as Leader of the Council, Sir Francis Bell said the Prime Minister had intimated to him that tho Government would certainly give the proposal most favourable consideration. Tho motion was carried.
