CASTLECLIFF SCHOOL

PLEASING SOCIAL EUNCTION Hard work by the Castlecliff School Committee has resulted in alterations and additions to the school and the completion of this useful work was appropriately marked when a pleasant social function, the first of what is intended to be a series, was held. There was an attendance of about 130, and an enjoyable evening was spent in dancing and playing euchre, prizes for which were won by Mrs. Robinson 1 and Mrs. Cuthbertson 2 among the ladies, and Mr. Young 1 and Mr White 2 among the men. The pleasure of the evening was greatly enhanced by Mr. and Mrs. Jamieson, who both gave splendid musical items. Mr. Foster presided at the piano. Mr. Veitch. M.P., was present anl in a very suitable speech congratulated the committee on the fine building it now had. although he predicted that it would not be long before further additions would be necessary. Mr. Veitch asked tho parents and residents to get behind their committee, which was a very live one. and give it all the support they could. The speaker touched on the 'subject of the newlyformed Past Students’ Association, and said it was a step in the right direction.

During the evening an excellent supper was provided.
