YOUNG MANS MISTAKE
FOUND IN GIRL’S ROOM DRUNKENNESS AS AN EXCUSE BLENHEIM, July 26. Arrested in Wellington on Friday on a charge of having been found in a girl’s bedroom at Renwicktown, near Blenheim, at 4.30 a.m. on Thursday last, and with having assaulted the parents of the girl when she called them in Rex Brydon, aged 25 years, pleaded guilty at the Blenheim Court. He urged drunkenness as an extenuating circumstance. He stated that he had no evil intent, he merely entered the room through the window to have a talk. When her parents arrived he naturally attempted to escape, and a scuffle ensued. The Magistrate accepted the explanation, and, on accused promising to take out a prohibition order, ordered him to come up for sentence within six months. On the major charge he lined him £5 for assault, and. ordered him to pay the costs of the prosecution, £3 14s.
