FINANCE MINISTER PROMISES STATEMENT [ Per - Press Association ] WELLINGTON, July 5. In the House of Representatives today, Mr W. E. Parry (Auckland West) asked the Minister of Finance (tho Hon. Downie Stewart) if he would take steps to compel the banks to reduce their over-draft rates to a figure comensuratc with the dividends paid. The Minister said that some time ago he had promised, when the June figures were available, to go into the question. Those figures were now available and wore being examined by the banks. He would be able to make a statement, he hoped, in two or three days.
