PRICE OF FERTILISERS Advisory Committee of Farmers’ Union Meets TUBERCULAR CATTLE. [ Per Press Association J WELLINGTON, June 27. The Advisory Committee of the New Zealand Farmers’ Union met to-day t the president (Mr W. J. Polson) being in tne chair. The committee supported and passed as resolutions the following remits:— ‘‘That this conference strongly recommends to the Government that it be made compulsory that all dairy cattle be periodically examined and tested for tuberculosis by officers of the Stock Division; when offered for sale to be accompanied by a tubercular test certificate; and that for wrongfully condemned cattle full compensation be paid.’ ’ ‘‘That this conference is of opinion that a veterinary course should be commenced at the Massey Agricultural College for the benefit of st'ck inspectors.” “That this conference urges the setting up of a committee to make full investigations into the reasons for the price of fertilisers being so much dearer in the South Island as against, the price charged in the North Island. ” “That the Government be requested to amend the Land Act so as to allow of the appointment of two representatives of Crown tenants to the land boards; also that the various land districts be divided into two wards—one representative to be elected to each ward.”
“That as the cash on delivery system confers a great benefit to farmers, it is hoped that the Government will not, under pressure, discontinue thia system, but extend it through New Zealand.’’ .
