FIRE BRIGADE DANCE. [ Special "Chronicle” Service. J There was a good attendance at the Fire Brigade’s dance in the Socts’ Hall on Friday last, and the function can be claimed a success both socially ahd linaucialy. Music was supplied by Merwood’s Orchestra, while extras were played by Misses N. Watt and L. Hartley and Messrs T. Hartley, R. Laird and A. E. Stevens. Supper Was provided in the supper room, for which thanks are due to the good work of the Ladies’ Committee. A Monte Carlo waltz was held, the successful couple being Miss M. Wright and Mr Livingston. The duties of M.’sC. were carried out by Secretary A. E. Stevens and Fireman R. Powell. The following is the Ladies’ Committee to whose untiring work the success of the dance was due; Mesdanies Finn, Stevens, Folla-s, Hallwood, Merwood, Whyte, Gordon and assistants. FOOTBALL. Hunterville Thirds have a splendid record this season. They have not lorn a game, and on Saturday brought home the Hosking Challenge Cup. In the fixture competition they have a lead of seven points over their nearest competitors, and with eight games to play they should make no race of the championship. W.DF.U. The Rewa members of the Hunterville branch of the W.D.F.U. held a most successful dance in the Rewa Hall recently. Great credit is due to Miss England, the organiser, and het helpers —Mesdames Craig, Vennell, Eames, Brown, Signal, Harre and England, and the Misses Eames, Alderson, Signal and Goebel. Mrs Butement kindly supplied the musie, and Messrs Coleman and Signal were M.C.’s, assisted by Messrs Aiderson, Eames, Vennell and Craig, who gave considerable help to make the evening a very pleasant one.
