STEAMER IN STORM LONG VOYAGE FROM AUCKLANT TO WELLINGTON. x’er Prw Association, j WELLINGTON, June 23. Some 90 hours overdue from Auckland to Wellington, a trip scheduled to take 52 hours, the Canadian Challenger arrived at 8 o’clock this morning. Tho ship had discharged a considerable amount of cargo at Auckland and consequently came in for a severe tossing when she encountered heavy seal. To Castlepoint the weather was fair, but on Tuesday morning a heavy southerly sprang up and rapidly increased in strength until it was deemed advisable to hcavc-to. All through Tuesday and up till Wednesday night the ship strained at her anchors and suffered a severe buffeting from the seas, which assumed mountainous proportions. At times squalls of rain and hail made conditions even more uncomfortable.

After the ship got under way she had proceeded no farther than Capo I’alliser when the gale again sprang up as fierce as ever and Thursday found her once more hove-to under conditions which were a repetition of those .experienced at Castlepoint. Though tho Canadian Challenger shipped a number of seas she came through the ordeal undamaged.

COASTAL VESSELS DELAYED I Per Praia Association. J DUNEDIN, June 24. . The Holmdale experienced heavy weather and a severe buffeting on her trip from Wellington to Dunedin. The voyage, which usually takes 34 hours, occupied 94 on this occasion. Heavy snow’, hail and rain, accompanied by a gale of hurricane force, gave the captain and crew an anxious time. After leaving Akaroa the storn increased m ferocity and 8J miles in 24 .hours was all the headway the Holmdale could hake. She sought shelter at Akaroa again and arrived at Dunedin not much tho worse for wear. The Corinna encountered a similar experience on South Canterbury coast-
