Medals of Lifeboat Service
Three of the gold medals of the Royal National Lifeboat Institution — one of the most coveted distinctions in the world —have just been awarded for heroism in connection with rescue work in Britain during the gales of October and November last year. Two of the medals have gone to the crew of the Moelfre, Anglesey, lifeboat, and the third to Coxswain Blogg, of the Cromer boat, who thus wins the honour for the second time. He is the only man now living who has won the 11 Lifeboat V.C.” twice. The last similar instance occurred in 1848. It is very rarely that the gold medal of the institution is awarded —no others have been given since 1922.
