America’s Sweets Bill
The United States untied the red ribbon of a national candy-box that weighed 1,132,620,0001 b. in 1927, according to the Department of Commerce. In tons, the total is 566,310, while in pound boxes there is enough to give every man, woman, and child about 10 nicely wrapped packages.
The “sweets bill” of the country is not. announced, but if the candy sold for an average of 2s a lb., the total would be about £110,000.000.
