LOCAL AGENTS’ ADVICE. Messrs Millward and Co. advia«: The Calm ig due here to-day and will take cargo on Monday morning for Wellington, Lyttelton, Bluff. Dunedin and Timaru. The Storm loads at Oamaru and Timaru today, Lyttelton on Monday, Wellington Tuesday. Picton on Wednesday, and is due Wanganui on Thursday, 14th Inst. The Breeze loads at Dundein to-day, thence Oamaru. Timaru. Lyttelton, Wellington and is due Wanganui on Thursday, 14th inst. The Gale is scheduled to load at Dunedin on Monday and is expected at Wanganui on Friday, 15th inst. from usual ports. The Gabriella will load general cargo at Sydney on Monday, 11th inst. for Wanganui direct and is expected to arrive at this port about 20th inst. After discharge she will load for Melbourne and Sydney, via Greymouth. Messrs Johnston and Co. advise;— The Rimutaka is due from New Zealand ports on June 11. GENERAL NEWS. GLENAE REFOATED. The small scow Glenae, which capsized in the Hauraki Gulf on March 26, and was' afterwards driven ashore at the mouth of the Puhoi River, was refloated last Monday and towed into the river. The vessel is still bottom upwards. After the hull has been righted it will be towed to Auckland. Owing to the damage done to the vessel it is not known whether she will be repaired and recommissioned as a sailing vessel or be converted into a lighter. ARRIVALS AT LONDON. A cable message received by the New Zealand Shipping Company reports that the Devon arrived at London on May 28 from Wellington. The vessel left the northern port on April 15 for London and Hull. A cable message to the Shaw, Savill and Albion Company, reports that the Herminius arrived at Londcgi on the evening of May 27 from Wellington. The vessel left Wellington on April 17 for London and West Coast ports of Great Britain. Cabled news received by the Shaw,, Savill and Albion Company states that the Pakeha arrived at London on the morning of May 26 from Wellington. The vessel left the northern port on April 14. WORLD’S TANKER FLEETAccording to a report published by the Standard Oil Company of New Jersey, the world’® tanker fleet on December 1, 1927. was 1173 vessels, of 9,270,000 tons deadweight capacity; 402 of these vessels, totalling 3,760,000 tons. of all the tank ships afloat are now motor-driven against 3 per cent, in 1913. On the date in question there were 143 tankers of 1,390,000 tons being built. VAL ARI A LEAVES LIVERPOOL. Running under the auspices of the Commonwealth and Dominion Line, the Cunard steamer Valacia is reported to have sailed from Livrepool on May 26 for New Zealand. She is bringing general merchandise from West Coast ports of Great Britain for discharge at Auckland. Wellington, Lyttelton, and Dunedin. Her arrival at Auckland is erpected about July 10. She is a vessel of 6560 tons, and was built at Port Glasgow bv Messrs Russell and Co. in 1919. Her former name was the Luceric. HEAVY CARGO. The transportation of some unusually heavy and bulky cargo has recently been undertaken by a Commonwealth and Dominion liner. The Port Nicholson left New York on March 15 for Adelaide, carrying on deck one sleeping car and one dining car, of which the dimensions, without the bogies were:—• Length, Sift 9in; width, 10ft; height lift lOin: weight. 49 tons. The cars were bored in. after having been placed on the ship’s deck by the 90-ton floating crane. The bogies, weighing 11 tons for each car, were taken in the ship’s cargo holds. The cars, of which there is one more to be shipped later, were built in Chicago. TRANSPACIFIC MAIL SERVICES.
