STILL CRITICAL
CHANG’S CONDITION SERIOUS POSITION IN TIENTSIN [ Australian Press Assn.—United Service ] TOKIO, June 7. Marshal Chang Eso Lin’s condition is reporacd to be improved, although it is still critical. There are most critical situations around Tientsin, where upwards of 8000 partly disorganised Shantung and Shiidi troops threaten to break through the international defence. I: is feared that the Chinese and Japanese forces defending the section of Tientsin arouLQ the cast station may clash ot any time. This would mean that other international forces, including the American and British-, arc likely to be soon involved.
