GUIDING DRIVERS

MOTORING SIGNPOSTS REQUEST MADE BY HIGHWAYS COUNCIL. New Zealand is forging ahead as far as road signs are concerned, and the Wanganui district is very well supplied with indication boards. To the Wanganui County Council at yesterday's meeting, Mr T. M. Ball, representing the Highways Council for Nos. 7 and 8 districts, wrote: — “ Regulation 16 of the motor vehicle regulations requires that certain signposts shall be erected by road controlling authorities. Will you state what steps are being taken in regard to this matter? The Board will subsidise the cost of erection of any signposts required under the motor vehicles regulations out of the maintenance fund.” Mr R. R. Dawson, county engineer, was authorised to go into the matter as far as the scope of the county is concerned.
