CHOIR SOCIAL Members of the Presbyterian Church Choir were entertained by Mr and Mrs J. G. McGregor at their residence on Friday evening. The first part of the evening was devoted to choir practice, after which a very enjoyable social time was spent. Items were rendered by Mr Foster, Jnr., Miss J. McGregor, Mr F. Pearce and Mr McGregor. During the evening a dainty supper was partaken of. Arrangements for the forthcomingbazaar, to be held under the auspices of the Presbyterian Church are well in hand, and the last gift afternoon which was very successful, was held last week. WINTER RE UNIONS The first of three winter reunions in connection with the Ohakune Presbyterian Church was held last week ' when over 50 persons were present. The choir gave an enjoyable programme including the Anthem “The King of Kings.” Mrs G. D. Blacklock, Miss L. Reid and Mr F. Pearce. Bible Class members organised several interesting competitions, which were won by Miss Hutchinson and Miss Cowley. Games arranged by the church management committee were also indulged in. The Ladies Guild provided a most enjoyable supper. It has been arranged to hold the next re union at the end of the present month.
GENERAL NEWS A euchre party was held on Friday at Mrs Martin’s tea-rooms under the direction of Mrs Curran. There was a fairly good attendance and a most enjoyable time was spent. Mrs Fitzgerald won the ladies’ prize and Mr Curran the men’s. The Anglican Girls’ Guild held an enjoyable dance at St. John’s Hall on Tuesday which attracted a good attendance. The music was rendered by Misses D. Wood and V. Clcmett andMr Meads. A dainty supper was served by the GuildMr R. A. Robbie loft on Saturday morning for Wellington to take up study at the university. Miss L. Craven loft for Dannevirke on Saturday after spending a holiday at Ohakune. The fire brigade received a call on Monday evening and on arrival found that a chimney at Cranleigh Hotel was on fire. This was soon extinguished.
