WEALTHY FRIENDS
A PRESIDENTIAL CANDIDATE HUGE FORTUNES TO BACK SMITH. [ Australian Press Assn. ] WASHINGTON, May 17. Four millionaire supporters of Governor Smith told the Presidential Expenditures Committee that the only limitation of future contributions to his campaign fund would be their capacity’ to keep on giving. Their combined fortunes are worth at least 100,000.000 dollars. They stated they would back him for all they had. “ All he’s got to do is to say he wants it.” they’ stated, and declared they wished no compensation in the event of his election. They made the donations only because of long friendship with Governor Smith. William Kenny donated 70,000 dollars, part of which was reported to be a loan, hut Kenny' stated that he gave the total sum and would give more.
