SEVERE INJURIES
A WOMAN’S CONFESSION ATTACKED MAN WITH AN AXB [ Per Tresa A usociation. ) DUNEDIN, May 18. At four o’clock this morning, a woman, aged 28, walked into the North Dunedin Police Station and reported that she had atacked a man with an axe. The police went to a house at 162 King Street and there found Charles Wilfred Waldren, a married man, aged 33, sitting on his bed with his head badly injured. The bed was covered with blood and Waldren’s injuries were being tended by a relative. The man was removed to hospital with one ear cut off and other severe head injuries An argument is reported to have caused the assault. The woman was charged in the Police Court this morning with assaulting Waldren so as to cause actual bodily harm. Her left eye was blackened. A week’s remand was granted and f her name was suppressed in the meantime. Bail was refused as the police stated that the man was lying in hospital unconscious. Accused was a married woman separated from her husband and had been living with Waldren.
