Lady Nolan and Miss Nolan of Auckland are in Wanganui and arc staying at Foster’s Hotel. Dr and Mrs M. Karie v. ho have been staying in Auckland as the guests of Mrs Steadman, Mrs Earle’s sister, returned to Wanganui on Tuesday. Un Monday evening Mrs Walter Stewart was hostess at a very pleasant little bridge afternoon to entertain her guest, Miss Grant, of Wellington. Mrs Boss and her daughters have left for Wellington where they intend to spend the school holidays with Airs Boss’ sister-in-law. Airs Hogg, who lives at Eastbourne. Airs Collins and Afiss P. Collins, who have been staying in Bulls as the guests of Airs Horace Wilson, have returned to their home on ht. John’s. Hill. Air and Airs Craig, of Waipukurau. are staying at the Rutland Hotel. Captain and Airs Gage Williams, of Wellington, are in Wanganui for the autumn race meeting and are staying at Foster’s Hotel. Airs D’Arcy is at present down from the country and is slaying a.t her home in Campbell Street. Miss Aloana and Aliss Molly Chohneley, of Bell Block. New Plymouth. are the guests of Airs I. Saunders, St. John’s Hill. On Tuesday Afternoon Airs Gordon Maeßeth gave a delightful bridge party at her home at Alarybank. Air and Airs G. Al. Currie are staying at Foster’s Hotel. A very pleasant evening was held in Knox Hall, Gonville, on Monday to bid farewell to Aliss Mavis Johnston. King’s Avenue (daughter of Airs Johnston, Postmistress at Castlecliff ), wh«j has been appointed to the school al Kaponga. A musical programme was gone through and at a suitable interval the Girl Guides (of which Aliss John ston has been captain since the inception of the movement) presentee her with a beautiful travelling rug. The Boy Scouts also presented her witi a carved powder bowl and the parent.* committee of the Guides and Scouts with a solid leather toilet case. Several letters of appreciation of the goo» work performed by her for the good 01 the community generally, were also re reived as also were two bouquets ol flowers.
