COACH BUILDERS

ANNUAL CONVENTION BETTER CUSTOMS CONDITIONS [ Per Press Association 1 AUCKLAND, April 23. . The annual convention of the New Zealand Coach and Motor Body Builders ’ Asosciation opened this morning. Acknowledging the civic welcome to delegates, Mr E. C. Harvey urged better Customs conditons for the trade. He suggested the importation of British and American chassis at a lower duty, which would enable mor e men to be employed in the motor industry and body building. He said that British chassis and New Zealand bodies made an excellent combination, but they had to contend with the mass production, lower frieghts, etc., of the American manufacturer. He considered that the British chassis should be permitted to come into New Zcarsnu at five instead of ten per cent, as ar present.
