STATE BUDGET
AUSTRALIAN FINANCES TTEAVT RAILWAY DEFICIENCY Hecdived April 20, 1.10 a.in. A. A N.Z.) SYDNEY. April 19. The State budget delivered to-nighl disclosed a deficit for 192<-1928 of ap proximately £1,600,000. The onlv fresh taxation is an in crease in the liquor license fee from twe to five per cent estimated to produce £275,000. Parliament has been asked to sanction the placing of State industrial en terprises on the same footing as private enterprises so far as taxation is concerned. The Family Endowment Act will be suspended for a further period, but benefits under the Act will be increased in certain directions. The railway deficit amounts tc £1,000.000, but tramways show a profit of £50,000. '
