ST. JOHN’S CLUB GONVILLE FAIL TO TAKE TEO PHY. The inclement weather on Saturday interfered with play at the St. John’s Bowling Club. However, in spile of the weather the challenge maten between Gonville and St. John’s was played, the juniors having a great light. Gonville commenced with a lead and were nine to one at one stage, but St. John s evened up and the scores stood act 18 all. The challengers then got five ahead with two heads to go, but St. John’s obtained four on the 20th head and a single on the last. The game ended 23 all.
Gonville having failed to defeat St John’s, the latter retain the “Bann’rette-’’
The teams were:—Gonville: J. Healey, Black, Wilson, Gordon. St. John’s: Mitchell, McTubbs, Clinkard* Bassett.
