KEEN COMPETITION WEATHER MARS PROCEEDINGS. Although Tain considerably interfered with the arrangements of the sports meeting held at Westmere on Saturday afternoon, the meeting was financially successful. The ground was soft and inclined to be slippery, but in spite of this, fine exhibitions of horsejumping and other sports were given. The districts represented in the. sports w’crc Tayforth, Rapanui, Kai Iwi, Brunswick, Westmere and Maxwell. It was entirely due to the efforts of the hard-working committee and the ladies of the district that nearly £lOO was taken Those proceeds arc to be divided equally between the hall, committee and the Mounted. Rifles for the purpose of enlarging the hall and buying equipment for the territorials. Everyone in the various districts took a personal interest in the meeting and the whole of the produce, including twenty sheep, was donated by the neighbouring farmers.
