There were many competitions hold during the evening, the principal events being the following. Alonto Carlo: Aliss G. Urwin and Bryan Roberts. Washingday race : Airs Revel. Egg and Spoon Race: Aliss G. Ward. Alon’s Race: J. Dauphin 1, L. Dauphin 2. Alost graceful skater (lady): Airs McNamara. Alost graceful couple (beginners): Aliss G. Ward and A. Larkin. RAETIHI BOROUGH COUNCIL. The adjourned meeting of tho Borough Council was held on Thursday evening. Tho engineer presented a report on the electrical system, and submitted an estimate of costs to bring tho installation up to the required standard demanded by the Public Works Department. The Alayor stated that to comply with the Department’s demands it would be necessary to raise a loan, but first they must have authority to do so. As soon as that authority was granted they would require tho ratepayers’ consent to take a poll. The Government Inspector had recommended that the Borough link up with Ohakune in respect to supply of electricity. This would incur a further expenditure of approximately £3OOO. After a long discussion it was resolved to approach the Loan’s Board with a view of getting authority to raise a loan of £5,500 so that tho matter could be brought before the electors; also for a further £3OOO if it was decided to enter into the Ohakune extension project.
