FATAL STABBING

ACCUSED ACQUITTED THE NEWCASTLE AFFRAY (A. & N.Z.) SYDNEY, March 23. Frank Edwards was acquitted on a charge of murdering Sullivan at Newcastle. A quarrel between two unemployed seamen in a disused coal trimmer’s hut at Newcastle ended in the fatal stabbing of William Patrick Sullivan on December 28.

Immediately after the affray his opponent rushed out and disappeared and later Edwards gave himself up to the police.
