A Gisborne telegram says that the election for the Mayoralty, caused by the death of Mr C. E. Armstrong, resulted in the return of Mr D. W. Coleman (Labour) with 1760 votes, who beat Mr J. Blair, the Deputy-Mayor and Citizen’s candidate (1737) and Air A. Wade (Citizen’s candidate)
The Commissioner of Rural Intermediate Credit, (Mr J. AV. MacDonald), announces that the GovernorGeneral has appointed Mr J. Snell, M.A. LLB., at present controller of the mortgage division of the Public Trust Office at Wellington to be Deputy-Commissioner of Rural Intermediate Credit.
