AMATEUR ATHLETIC CLUB. [ Special “Chronicle” Service. J On Thursday evening a meeting was held to endeavour to form an amateur athletic and cycling club. Tho response was most encouraging and a large attendance resulted. Mr G. H. Graham was voted chairman. In opening the meeting Mr Graham said it was very gratifying to see such a representative .attendance, and it was hoped that this would be the commencement of tho revival of the sport in Waverley. It was unanimously decided that an Amateur Athletic and Cycling Club be formed and the following officers were elected:—Secretary, Mr J. C. Halliday ;treasurer, Air W. H. James; committee: Messrs Ericson, S. Marriott, A. Mitchell, E. AliZ.hey, E. C. Dallison, G. Fitzgibbon, and A. Maule. It was a recommendation to the committee that a meeting be held on Saturday afternoon, March 31, on the Waverley Domain. It was also decided to affiliate with the West Coast Centre. Tho next meeting will be held on Monday next, all members being asked to attend. SHEEP DOG TRIALS. The annual meeting of the WaverleyWaitotara Sheep Dog Trial Club was held on Wednesday and Thursday on Miss lons’ property at Kohi. The weather was perfect and this and the splendid course greatly added to the success of the meeting, hich was attended by visitors from many miles distant. Air Andrew Hunter judged the various events and arrived at his decisions promptly, also remarking on the vast improvement in the last few years in the training of the dogs, especially in the huntaway sections. The president, in presenting the various cups and trophies, complimented the winners and thanked all those who had helped to make the trials successful. The following are the full details:— Novice Event.—Head, pull and drive through two sets of hurdles; about 300 yards; time 12min.—Earl Death’s Darkie, 47 points, 1; R. J. Leith’s Al eg, 46 points, 2; S. Barclay’s Fan, 44 points, Class I: Head, pull, hold in ring; about 800 yards; time 12min. —V. S. Afclntyre’s Chief Junior, 47 points, 1; AL Scott’s Scotty, 4G points, 2; T. Sullivan’s Pinch, points, 3; P. Forrester’s Charm, 444 points, 4. Class III.: Huntaway; about 440 yards; time 12min.—T. Sullivan’s Rafferty, 43 points, 1; G. Paddison’s Jock, 424 points, 2; T. Sullivan’s Bounce 42 points, 2; Al. Scott’s King, 40 points, 4; J. Gower’s Chop, 37 points, 5. Class II.: Head, pull, drive and yard; about 400 yards; time 15min.—W. V. Afclntyre’s Chief Junior, 524 points, 1; A. A. Afaster’s Turk, 504 points, 2; AL Scott’s Paddy, 49 points, ' 3; A. Doole’s Boy, 48 points, 4.
