LOCAL AGENTS’ ADVICE. Messrs Millward and Co. advise: The Calm is due at Wanganui to-morrow, via all southern ports. The Storm loads at Lyttelton to-day, and ! is expected at Wanganui on 27th inst. from I southern ports and Picton. I The Gabriella will sail from Wanganui about the beginning of next week. The Gale and Breeze are at present on their way south. The Cowden Law is due at Wanganui about the end of April from Galveston, Texas, via Auckland, Lyttelton and New Plymouth. Messrs Holm and Co. advise: — The John loads at Wellington to-day; due here to-morrow; sails for New Plymouth. The Holmdale loads at Lyttelton to-day; Wellington to-morrow; Picton Monday; due here Tuesday. Messrs Johnston and Co. report:— The Hauturu leaves Onehunga March 29; due here March 31. Kapuni is due from Wellington to-morrow. The Hawera is in port unloading transhipI ments ex West Milan and Port Adelaide 1 from Wellington. GENERAL NEWS. GALLIC LEAVES NEW YORK. The Gallic, which left Auckland on Febru- ! ary 9 for New York, Halifax, and West of j England ports, is reported in a cable message received, to have sailed from New York 1 <>n March 13 for Halifax. ‘ TAHITI AT SAN FRANCISCO. ! The Union Company reports that the R.M.S. Tahiti, from Wellington, via Rarotonga and Papeete .arrived at San Francisco last Friday. The vessel is timed to leave the Californian port to-morrow for Papeete, Rarotonga. Wellington, and Sydney. She is duo at Wellington on April 9. REMUERA FROM ENGLAND. A wireless message received by the New Zealand Shipping Company from the captain of the Rcmuera states that the vessel will arrive at Auckland next Sunday afternoon from London and Southampton. The Remuera is bringing a large number of passengers for New Zealand, and general cargo for discharge at Auckland, Napier, and Wellington. PORT CAROLINE REPORTED. The Commonwealth and Dominion Line steamer Port Caroline, en route from New Zealand ports to London ,is reported to have sailed from Colon on March 14. The vessel was despatched from Wanganui roadstead on February' 18.
NEWBY HALL FROM NEW YORK. Cable advice received states that the A. and A. Line chartered steamer Newby Hall sailed from New York on March 7 with general cargo to discharge at Auckland, Wellington, Lyttelton, Dunedin, and Sydney. The vessel resumed her voyage from Newport News on March 10. She is due at Auckland on April 14 and at Dunedin about April 26. THE GAMBIA RIVER. The Gambia River arrived at Auckland early yesterday from Ocean Island. It had been arranged that she should go to Lyttelton first to discharge 4,000 tons of phosphate there and then to Auckland to unload the remaining 3,300 tons. She was delayed by strong head winds and a gale for five days, with the result that she had not enough coal to take her to Lyttelton.
PORT MELBOURNE HOMEWARD BOUND. Cable advice received states that the C. and D. Line steamer Port Melbourne, en route from Lyttelton to London, sailed from Panama on March 16. The vessel left Lyttelton on February 23. KIA ORA LEAVES PANAMA. The Shaw-Savill Line’s steamer Kia Ora, en route from Liverpool to New Zealand, cleared Balboa on March 8. The vessel has general merchandise from West Coast ports of the United Kingdom for di charge at Auckland .Wellington, Lyttelton and Dunedin. She is due at Auckland on March 30. A DOCKING RECORD. The marine department of the White Star Line at Southampton achieved a record i»y undocking from dry Jock their two liners, the Olympic (from the floating dry dock), and the Homeric, from No. 7 dry dock. In the instance of the former the undocking and docking in berth 44 were completed in 75 minutes, and the Homeric, which berthed at No. 47, took only 35 minutes. Seventeen tugs were employed; nine for the Olympic and eight for the Homeric. On the day following the operations described, the Majestic reached home from New York, and the White Star “Big Three” —their tonnage totalling more than 130,000 tons—were in docks together ,an occurrence which happens only once in a year.
