BEAUTIFYING SOCIETY

] Special ''Cbx’on:cle” Service. J The committee meeting held last Alonday was well attended and Air L. J. Vile was in the chair. It was reported that arrangements had been made to have the Ohakune Silver Band in attendance at the sports meeting and also for an “ocean wave” to be on the grounds. The trophies donated by the local tradesmen and others, were left in the hands of Air Laing to allot. Air A. E. Willoughby donated a cup as points prize in the motor car events. It was decided to delete the motor see-saw event and add a novel motor event to the programme. Air B. Gibbons was appointed official time keeper. The tender of Miss I. Larkin was accepted for the stall privilege, and the catering for afternoon tea was given to the Presbyterian Ladies’ Guild.

A. & P. ASSOCIATION.

There was present at the committee meeting of the Waimarino Agricultural, Pastoral, Horticultural and Industrial Association Messrs A. B. Harris, (chairman), Solly,, Handley, F. AlcNic, Handley, Ball, D. AlacLcan, Windle. The secretary presented a draft bal-ance-sheet showing that the Association would just about hold its own on the year’s working after writing off £8 for depreciation. Accounts amounting to £312 16s Td (including prize money) -were passed for payment. It was agreed that the Raetihi Sports and Beautifying Association have the use of the grounds for their sports meeting, on March 24, on the same terms at last year. A sheep drive is to be held next week, the sheep to be sold on Alarch 30, All district representatives have been asked to meet on Friday afternoon to make final arrangements. The secretary was instructed to write thanking Alessrs R. Allan and Co. for the gift of a lamb, for the weightjudging competition, and Air E. I’awson for handing back £2 of his prize money for competition at next show.
