The cricket pitches on Cook’s Gardens which have become practically bare of grass during the playing season are being chipped over and grass seed planted.
At the Wanganui Magistrate’s Court yesterday morning, before Mr W. Bruce, J.P., a Chinese, named Wing Chun, was charged that being a person to whom a temporary permit was granted to enter New Zealand he tdidremain in the Dominion beyond the period specified without having applied for an extension of such permit. Wing said he did not wish to go back to China. He was remanded to appear at Auckland to-djay.
