SANDON EN FETE ANNUAL SPORTS HELD A SUCCESSFUL GATHERING. Special “Chronicle” Service. J SANDON, March 19. The sixth annual gathering of the Sandon Sports Club on Saturday passed off very successfully. The attendance of the public was very good and interest in the various races and competitions was well maintained. The Schools Competitions for the Hornblow ami McKelvie Shields attracted good fields and the result of the Hornblow Shield competition was only decided in the last event. During an interval in the afternoon the JNfcKelvie Shield was presented to Mr Mason (head teacher, Foxton School) by Mr Linklater, M.P. for the district, and Mr Hornblow made the presentation of the Shield for lower grade schools to Air Barnes (head teacher, Ohakea), both teachers acknowleding the presentations and calling for cheers for the donors of the I Shields, and also for opposing teams. The secretarial duties were well car- ' ried out by Mr I. Edwards and his asI sistan ts, Messrs A. Hickey and O. j Ellerm. Air A. K. Drew, as director of sports, was the right man in the right ; place.
