THE RIVAL STATES Poland’s Appeal to the League of Nations ALTERNATIVE TO MOBILISATION (By Telegraph—Per Press Assn.—Conyright.) Received Dec. 3, 12.10 a.m. (A. & N.Z.) WARSAW, Dec. 2. Newspapers publish an interview with Marshal Pilsudski, which is presumed to be authentic, in view of the Government control of the Press in which he said: “When I received word that Lithuania was mobilising, I debated with myself all night whether Poland should mobilise and forestall an attack. Finally I decided to appeal to the League of Nations.” Pilsudski, who is himself a Lithuanian, was born in Vilna. He is reported to have described Valdcmaras, the Lithuanian Premier, as “a madman and an insane, super-patriot, who is first Russian, then German, and finally Lithuanian, though only Tor a few years. ’ ’
