GONVILLE ACTIVITIES SUCCESSFUL CLUB NIGHT In spite of the unseasonable weather the weekly club night of the Gonville Swimming Club was a very successful fixture, there being twenty competitors in the various events. Air H. W. Cooper acted as starter and gave every satisfaction in that position. The racing was keen throughout and the finishes, despite big handicaps, were very close. Results of the various events were as follows: Ladies’ Section. Helean Cup: 50 yards.—D. Johnson 1, O. Quarric 2, D. Anderson 3. 50 yards Medley. —E. Anderson 1, D. Anderson 2, F. Scott 3. Men’s Events. 50 yards Backstroke.—R. Fulton 1, C. Tasker 2, J. Heald 3. 50 yards Junior Cup. —G. Hastings 1, V. Newall 2, S. Gainey 3. 100 yards handicap.—First heat: S. Gainey 1, S. Pull 2, V. Newall 3. Second heat: V. North 1, N. Dowsctt 2, D. Gowan 3. Final: V. North 1, S. Gainey 2, S. Pull 3.
