OFF TO ROTORUA
WEEK-END EXCURSIONS SPECIAL TRAIN GOES NORTH TO-NIGHT The Railway Department’s week-end excursion to Rotorua, which commences to-day, is the biggest tour of its kind yet undertaken by the Department. Other excursions have been promoted for special occasions and a recent weekend trip from Wellington to Rotorua proved very successful, but to-day’s special train will draw its quota from a much larger field than hitherto.
Wanganui bookings for the trip arc fairly satisfactory, but it is anticipated that there will be additional enquiries to-day. In any case there should be no difficulty in filling the train, as passengers from the New Plymouth, Main Trunk, Napier and Wairarapa lines will be able to make us e of the ordinary time-table in getting either to Marton or Wellington where they will board the special. Wanganui passengers will be able to travel to Martom ; by the New Plymouth express, the 1.50 p.m. or the 4.12 p.m. train to-day, the excursion fare applying in all cases.
Rotorua will be reached at 8 a.m. tomorrow, allowing the greater part of two days to be spent in the famous holiday resort. The return train will allow Wanganui to be reached at 8.25 a.m. on Monday, but there are later trains available for those who have no need to be bark in time for the commencement of business that morning.
