Rowe made 128, not out. and Amos 23. Bowling, Everett took two wickets for 32, Jordan two for 77, Morgan two for 44. Phillips two foi 11. New South Wales lost seven wickets for 131. Kippax made 27. Watson 32, Oldfield 22, and Everett 19 not out. The weather was fine after heavy rain. The actual pitch had been covered and was in good condition but round the edges and in the outfield was heavy and slow. The remainder of the Queenslanders' were quickly disposed of. Rowe earned an ovation for his fine not out, three-figure innings. New JSouth Wales opened sensationally, the first four wi<-ke“s falling for 17 runs. Hornibrook and llurwood took every advantage of the pitch and did great execution. Kippax and Watson stopper! the rot for a time and Oldfield made a good showing, tut otherwise the visitors proved an easy prey to the bowlers.
