FOR UNIFORMITY

MR. BAVIN’S MOVE AUSTRALIAN INDUSTRIAL LEGISLATION. (A. & N.Z.) SYDNEY, Nov. 22. The Prime Minister, Mr T- B. Bavin, is consulting the Premiers of the respective States with the object of making joint representations to the Commonwealth Government in regarri, to tho overlapping of awards and conflicting industrial legislation. Mr. Bavin has already held a conference with Federal Ministers, at which he pointed out that the Federal Industrial and Arbitration Court and its control over the railways had added £l/100,000 to the running costs of the State railways and the State had no control whatever over this Court. It was creating grave difficulties to the State having two independent and unco-ordinated authorities controlling tho different sections of the railway services. Mr Bruce stated that he was prepared ‘ to consider any representations on the subject by the State.
