Mr H. Ziesler, of Wanganui, has been visiting Christchurch.
Mr and Mrs E. Barns have returned to Wanganui after a visit to Hawera.
Mr M. C. Crichton, of Hawera, secretary of the Egmont A. and P. Association, is visiting Wanganui for tho show.
Rutland Hotel guests are Mr G. V. Pearce (Waitotara), Mr and Mrs D. T. Sinclair (Dannevirke), Messrs A. L. Downes, F. Whiteheart (Auckland), Mr J. Durham. (Palmerston North), Messrs C. Gordon, McCabe, Sheehy, N. de Camp, Major Durham (Wellington).
Arrivals at Foster’s Hotel are Mr and Mrs E. A. Ireland, Mr and Mrs R. R. Law, Mr G. Peacock (Sydney). Mr B. Harvey (Waverley), Mrs P. Hollinrake, Mrs P. Kavanagh (Auckland), Mr J. V. Harrison (Napier), Messrs K. Otway, and W. E. Cathie (Wellington). Mr J. F. Grierson, manager of the Christchurch branch of the Victoria Insurance Company, will retire on pension on December 31 nex«. Mr Grierson joined the company’s staff in March, 1890, and was previously with the National Insurance Company for 13 years.
Mr H. Cleland, Inspector of Stock, in charge of the Matamata, Morrinsville, Putaruru districts, has received notice of his transfer to Wanganui. Mr Cleland has been located at Matamata for eight and a half years. He founded and conducted the Matamata Boy Scouts’ Band, this being the first brass band connected with this institution in New Zealand.
