HEREDITARY
THE FRIESIAN BBKED The value of hereditary power of cows to transmit to their offspring the if own high producing qualities has lon<| r been recognised by the dairy i and the Friesian dairy cow has always had the reputation and kept it of possessing these valuable qualities. Th 4 latest example of this is the four generation record of Oakwood Daisy Bell (dam) 9141 b fat; Bainfield (daughter) 9101 b. fat at 4yrs; Bainfield Daisy Sylvia (grand-daughter) 6341 b. fat, and Pendelton Sylvia Posch (great grand-daughter) 5801 b fat at 3 years 50 days. The records of the dam and daughter have been long standing ones, but those of the grand-daughter and her daughter have just been completed in j the herd of J. I. Boyde, of Fendalton, Christchurch, who states that they both finished their year’s test in the pink of condition, which is also an example of the hardihood and of the great con- ' stitutions possessed by Friesian dairy cows. Mr. Boyds also tested a third , cow last season, who produced 19906 in milk and 668 in fat.
