BOXING TOURNEY. [ Special " CLmnie’e ” Service. ] The Patca Amateur Boxing Association held its final tournament in the Town Hall on Tuesday. There was a record attendance and those present witnessed the best exhibitions of boxing ever seen in this town. After some exhibition bouts by the foUowing boys: McGehey and Warner, Edwards and Cooley, Shirtcliffe and Wilkinson, and Scott and Gardiner, the tournament commenced with the midget-weight (three two-minute rounds) between Waterland (Patea) and Fleetwood (Wanganui), and was won by the local lad. The light-weight bout of four twominute rounds, between Drombrowski (Waitara) and Burns (Wanganui) was won by the former, and the decision in the bantam-weight between Shirtcliffe (Patea) and Jamieson (Wan o anui) was gained by the local boy. The welter-weight, between Scown (Patea) and Benjamin (Wanganui) was a very spirited bout, Scown winning the honours. In the bout between Crowley (Wellington) and Forward (Wanganui) the audience was treated to some brisk moments, the bout eventually going in the Wellington boy’s favour. The paper-weight bout between Gordon (Patea), 4st. 61b, and Broomfield (Wanganui), 4st. 41b, was won by Gordon. Reid (Wanganui) met Carlson (Wanganui) in the heavy-weight, and after a somewhat tame display Carlson was idjudged the winner. The feather-weight bout between Mercer (Patea) and Donovan (Waitara) was the draw of the evening, and was certainly the best bout of the tournament, both contestants being game and willing. Donovan gained the decision on points. Mr Breed gave satisfaction as referee.
