AT BURNSIDE

RECENT RATES MAINTAINED. [Per Pres. Aasoclatlon.] DUNEDIN, Nov. 2. At the commencement of the cattle sale at Burnside to-day to-day store cattle generally showed no improvement. The demand for sheep was irPigs were about the same as previously. FAT CATTLE.— A. yarding of 246. The quality was of a varied nature and included a generous proportion of plain sorts and a few extra prime bullocks and cows and some heifers. Prices were: Extra heavy bullocks £l7 to £lB 10a, prime £l4 10s to £l5 16s, light £l2 10s to £l3 ss, best heifers £9 5s to £lO 10s, light £7 15s to £8 15s best cows £lO to £ll 15s medium £8 15s to £9 10s. STORE CATTLE. —There was a small yarding of store cattle consisting of ordinary cows a few yearlings and two or three pens of 2 to 3-year bullocks. The prices showed no improvement. One pen of three and four-year-olds sold fof £lO ss, and medium forward three-year-olds went for £7 ss. Inferior yearlings realised £2 10s. and cows were about the same, showing little alteration from last week. FAT SHEEP.-—A penning of 25,114 The entry was of mixed quality, comprising a considerable number of unfinished sorts, a fair number of prime wethers and prime ewes, and a sprinkling of medium quality ewes. The uemand was somewhat irregular, but was good generally for quality sheep. Light mediums were a shade easier. A special pen of sheep sold for 655, and other prices were: Prime heavy-weight wethers 55s to 575, light prime 42s to 44s 3d. medium ,35s to 38s, best heavy ewes 44s to 495, medium 28s to 3 s. light 25s to 275.

LAMBS.—A penning of 42. There was good quality in the penning. The demand was good and values were practically the same as at the previous sale. Prices were: Heavy prime 44s to 475, prime 33s to 355, light 25s to 28s. PIGS.—II6* fats and 180 stores wore penned. The penning revealed good quality pigs, which sold at prices, if anything, a shade easier than last week.
