The school committee has made arrangements with Mr G. Goebel to screen a picture on Wednesday, October 26, part of the profits of which will be added to the school improvement fund. The picture selected is “Flaming Fury,” a line picture of northern America. The Tennis Club euchre party will be hold in the Town Hall supper room on Wednesday evening. The cribbage tournament between the combined Oddfellow’s Lodges and Carnarvon was inadvertently postponed on Thursday evening but will be played on Thursday, October 27, at Bulls. Next Thursday evening the 1.0.0. F. Lodge will hold their annual installation meeting. Mrs A. J. Montgomerie, of Parewanui, is at present on a health trip in Hawke’s Bay. At a committee meeting of the Croquet Club held on Friday evening it was decided that the donation from the patron. M r G. Ellis, would be converted to “stars” for challenge competitive play during the season. It was decided that “stars” would be given for “A” and “B” singles and also for doubles competition.
