DURIE HILL AFFAIRS
RATEPAYERS’ ASSOCIATION IMPROVEMENTS TO THE SUBURB At the monthly meeting of the Durie Hill Ratepayers’ Association there were Sesent: the Rev. W. Tye (president), essrs Bourgeois, Rowell, Follett, McElwain, Tavendale, Pearce, AU press, and Irwin (hon. secretary). The secretary was instructed to ascertain the cost of the erection of a band rotunda for Durie Hill It was decided to thank the City Council for the consideration given to the Association’s requests, and also Cr. 8. E. Read for his assistance in the matter. Satisfaction with the works at Webh Road and Stark Street was expressed and it was decided to leave the matter of improvements to Hutchison Street in abeyance until more urgent works had been carried out. Mr Irwin was elected to act with Mr Tye on the Wanganui Ratepayers’ Association. i It was suggested that a general ■rheme be formulated for planting trees to beautify the suburb, and it was agreed that such a scheme should form part of the Association"s future programme.
