A SPLENDID RECOVERY
BRITAIN HARD AT WORK f EXTENSION OF TRADE. [ Special “ Chronicle ” Service. ] AUCKLAND, Aug. 15. Great Britain is majring a splendid recovery. In all directions efforts are being made to extend trade, and, better still, the advisableness of developing trade with the British Dominions is now being fully recognised. This was the opinion expressed by Sir George Fairbairn, who, after the completion of three years as Agent-General for Victoria in London, is a passenger on the liner Aorangi on his way back to Australia. Sir George has been a member of both Victorian State and Australian Parliaments, and also a member of the Senate. Ho said that there was an increasing demand in the Home market: for the primary products of Australia and New Zealand, while on the other hand British manufacturers were anxious that their products should receive every consideration, with a view to es tablishing reciprocal trade of mutual benefit.
